Briggs of Burton (BRIGGS) provides engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to the distilled spirits industry. McMillan (Coppersmiths & Fabricators) Ltd, founded in 1867 and one of the oldest coppersmiths worldwide, joined the Briggs Group in 2020. Together, they design, manufacture and deliver stainless steel tanks, copper distillation equipment, energy recovery systems, process systems, engineering services, and turnkey solutions for brewing and distilling.

Briggs of Burton (Briggs) provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to the distilled spirits industry. Briggs have worked extensively across the Scotch Whisky industry: designing and delivering projects at green- and brownfield sites. Briggs engineering services range from design consultancy through to delivering turnkey projects. Implementing safe, efficient, and sustainable solutions is our focus and our team are proud of our contribution in helping distilleries in reducing their water, energy, and carbon footprints.

McMillan (Coppersmiths & Fabricators) Ltd and its predecessor Archibald McMillan & Co Ltd have been a significant force in the domestic and worldwide supply of copper distilling equipment since the company was originally founded in 1867 and today is one of the oldest remaining coppersmiths in the world. The company has maintained its traditional craftsmanship, utilising a blend of hand tools and techniques that have remained largely unchanged since its inception. Each still produced is built to order, allowing the distiller to influence its design, which requires the team to exercise a high level of precision and creativity. The team at McMillan are incredibly proud to produce these iconic pieces of art for distillers across Scotland and around the world. McMillan is renowned for crafting distillation equipment for a variety of spirits, including whiskies, agave-based spirits, rum, gin, and vodka.

McMillan joined the Briggs of Bruton PLC (BRIGGS) in April 2020. Being part of the Briggs Group, McMillan has adopted many modern manufacturing principles, whilst retaining its handcrafted traditional production focus. Customers are benefiting from traditional looking copper pot stills with BRIGGS’s market leading energy recovery systems. BRIGGS will continue to build on its reputation to supply its distilling customers with market leading process equipment and engineering services. McMillan with their Scottish manufacturing location and capability to design and build copper distillation equipment enhances BRIGGS's turnkey offering.

BRIGGS and McMillan are delighted to support the development of new distilleries, especially when they are focussed on safe, efficient and sustainable processes. They also provide you with service and repair of your distillation equipment either at your site, or in our dedicated production environment in Scotland. Providing distillers with peace of mind and a focus on minimising any disruption to production at the distillery.
