Aceo Ltd, Scotch whisky specialist and owner of the well-established independent bottler Murray McDavid, is proud to announce the opening of the Murray McDavid Whisky Shop at The Old Bank. Located in the former Bank of Scotland building on Forres High Street built in 1852, this new venture is further evidence of Aceo’s investment in Forres and the local community as they bolster the Scotch whisky heritage of the area.
Aceo has their brand home, Dallas Dhu House in St. Leonard’s Road in Forres and last year took over the historic Dallas Dhu Distillery on the outskirts of the town. They aim to restore the 19th century distillery and bring back whisky production to the site, for the first time since 1983 and create a state-of-the-art visitor attraction. This project together with the opening of the new whisky shop at The Old Bank will bring employment opportunities and tourism to Forres. For over a decade, Aceo have contributed to the success of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, putting on whisky events and tastings, which attract international visitors from around the world. The whisky shop and distillery will enrich Aceo’s offering.
Murray McDavid, Aceo’s premium whisky brand, enjoyed around the world, will take centre stage at the new shop, offering visitors a comprehensive range of exceptional Scotch whiskies — many of which can’t be found anywhere else. More than just a retail space, the shop is set to evolve into a vibrant whisky destination, offering a whisky club, bar, food, private event space and tasting experiences that will provide whisky lovers — locals and tourists alike — with a welcoming place to gather.
“It's going to be a wonderful moment for us to open the doors of the Murray McDavid Whisky Shop at The Old Bank and bring this unique whisky experience to the heart of the Forres community,” said Edward Odim, Aceo’s Managing Director. “We’re incredibly proud to revive such a beautiful and historic building, transforming it into a vibrant, modern retail experience where locals and visitors can connect over great whisky. We are also pleased to be creating jobs, attracting tourists, and adding to the life of the town — we want to put Forres on the map as a must-visit destination for whisky lovers.”
The Murray McDavid Whisky Shop at The Old Bank will open its doors to the public on Friday 4 April 2025. Visitors can expect an extensive selection of Murray McDavid’s fine whiskies, expert advice from friendly and knowledgeable whisky specialists, and a warm welcome from the team.
